Darth Revan is canon again! Well, technically they’ve been canon since 2019 and the visual dictionary for The Rise of Skywalker, but the novel Shadow of the Sith recently made it more official, in my opinion, by mentioning the name in actual story content. On Exegol we get to see part of the life of Rey’s father, Dathan, as he explores the Sith Citadel. In its lower levels he finds a funerary vault, or tomb, where several cultists chanting the names of Sith long dead. Revan is one of those names. To me this is a much bigger deal than a small mention in a reference book. Visual Dictionaries fill the gaps left by stories, and have been overwritten by actual story material before. Even if it’s still just a small mention, having Revan’s name appear in a book solidifies their existence in canon. | It’s unclear, but I think Shadow of the Sith hints that Revan’s final resting place may be on Exegol itself. That’s definitely not confirmed, but it could be that the canon Revan never returned to the light side of the Force, or perhaps they were held in such high esteem that their name still echoes across the Citadel of that ancient Sith world.
