In this video I show you the process for how I restored this mid 1900's Boy Scout's Hatchet. I picked this guy up at a yard sale, and after doing some research I found it is a Bridgeport Mfg. Hatchet circa 1950's-60's. These where standard issue for Boy Scouts from the 1930's to the end of the 1960's, and they were made in Bridgeport Connecticut. For the restoration I soaked the Hatchet in a 50/50 vinegar water solution for 24 hours, I then sanded he metal down to 4000 grit, and built a custom grip for it. as you will see in the video the first grip didn't workout too well, but I nailed it with handle #2 and I am super happy with the final design.
