Twitter's new boss agreed at the last minute to an interview with the BBC's James Clayton to discuss his takeover of the social media platform.
Musk then accused the BBC journalist of lying about the rise of "hate speech" on Twitter saying: "People say all sorts of nonsense, I'm literally asking for a single example and you can't give one."
Director of Defund the BBC campaign Beccy Ryan said: "It's the sheer arrogance of this organisation that they think they can go into an interview with the richest man in the world completely unprepared".
