Here is a workflow that can be used with any hardware synth that can do a "program edit buffer dump" (PEBD) using sysex and a DAW that can send and receive sysex.
The process records the current synth settings as a sysex message which can be recalled by playing the midi clip back to your synth.
Step 1: Create a dedicated midi track and midi clip to only run when performing the PEBD.
Step 2: Copy the PEBD sysex message (from the synth's manual) into the midi clip.
Step 3: To save the current synth settings, record midi clip into new midi track while the PEBD sysex message is played.
The newly recorded midi track will have the current synth settings recorded as sysex and can be recalled by playing this clip alone (**PEBD clip must be muted**).
I hope it's relatively straight forward once you try it.
I apologize for the vocal audio. Speaking like this is very uncomfortable for me and I hope to overcome this discomfort and improve my speaking as I publish more videos like this. Despite all that, I like to help and I think this might be helpful for those of you working in a hardware synth/DAW environment.
Since I recorded this video, I created a couple of macros that make it much easier to record the sysex dump process. Let me know if that's something you'd like a tutorial on in the comments.
