In a recent development, the mother of Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif, who was killed in October last year, has requested the Supreme Court to include PTI Chairman and four others in the investigation conducted by the special Joint Investigation Team (JIT).
The application suggests that these individuals have made claims about the conspiracy and execution of the murder, and their involvement is crucial to collect evidence against the actual perpetrators. The named individuals include Imran Khan, PTI leaders Faisal Vawda and Murad Saeed, journalist Imran Riaz Khan, and ARY Chief Executive Officer Salman Iqbal.
Arshad Sharif had left Pakistan due to multiple registered cases against him and was subsequently shot dead in Kenya. Initially, the local police claimed it was a case of mistaken identity, but later reports suggested involvement of an occupant in Sharif's car who allegedly fired at paramilitary officers. The Pakistan government sent a team to Kenya to investigate the incident.
