For the OM player who wants a serious boost in presence and dynamic range—and in a package that looks as good as it sounds—this cocobolo and European spruce OM Grand from Santa Cruz is the ticket. With a lower bout measuring 16" wide, the OM Grand design is akin to a Martin 0000. As SCGC says, "The strength of the OM Grand isn’t limited to sheer volume. In the sometimes restrained presence of solo fingerstyle playing, the inherent power of this guitar will generate a forceful bloom, requiring less effort with no loss of nuance." And in this wood pairing, it's got a balanced voice and just the right amount of sustain and lushness to handle a wide range of playing styles. We don't know where they sourced this out-of-this-world gorgeous cocobolo, but we hope they keep it coming. Once again they've paired it with bearclaw European spruce, and the cocobolo makes reappearances on the bridge, fretboard, and headstock veneer, as well.
