It's hard to pack in everything with only four days in Dublin, but we definitely tried! First off, we did not use a rental car until we left Dublin on our road trip around the island. Most of our time spent in the city was on foot with a judicious use of taxis. On day one, we walked a little bit around Dublin, visited the James Joyce Centre and took in a production of Ulysses at the Abbey Theatre. On day two, we primarily celebrated Bloomsday, an event based on James Joyce's Ulysses, and for which we made a whole other video (linked below). On day three, we kayaked the River Liffey (also linked below), went to the Guinness Storehouse and visited various places, such as Dublin Castle, Dublinia museum and the Temple Bar. On day four, we visited Trinity College, St. Patrick's Cathedral, the EPIC Irish Emigration Museum, Kilmainham Gaol and the Jameson Distillery. If you are from New York or have ever visited New York, Dublin will remind you of Brooklyn. Or as a Dubliner might counter, Brooklyn will remind you of Dublin. Overall, a wonderfully historic, diverse city - a UNESCO City of Literature at that! - with plenty of things to see and do.
This video is the fourth of a daily video series of our travels to Ireland and Northern Ireland in June of 2018. From walking the lush greenery in the rugged hills and glens, hiking the breathtaking cliffs and coastal mountains, exploring caves and crags and remote off-shore islands, to the castles and ruins and hallmarks of pre-neolithic civilizations, we can honestly say it was one of the best times we have ever had. And do you know what was the most beautiful about the Emerald Isle? The people. In the cities or the countryside, to the north and the south, in pubs, tea rooms or during a walk. Some of the most warm, kind, affable (and usually very funny) people you will ever meet are in Ireland, and they'll be sure to fill you in on where all the good craic is.
If interested in our trip, please keep checking out this playlist as the series is released.
