Instructor: Today on our 2016 Toyota RAV4 we're going to be doing a test fit on the Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains, part number TC2019. That's tire size 235/55R18. These Titan snow tire chains feature a ladder pattern so they're going to be very effective during accelerating and braking. They feature large steel rollers on the cross cables, so they're going to provide you with adequate traction. They're also going to give you a smoother ride than chains with links. They're low profile, they're SAE class S chains, and they're designed for vehicles with limited wheel well clearance. They have a maximum speed rating of 30 miles per hour and they come in a quantity of 2. Now I'll show you how easy they are to get installed.
To start off we're going to be putting tire chains on the front tires of our RAV4, because it is mostly driven by the front axle. To begin our test fit I've gone ahead and laid the chain out. It's a good idea to make sure there's no kinks, twists, or any tangles in it. You'll also want to be sure that the hook's here, the open side is facing up, and that the lever is going to be on the outside of our tire. Now let's go ahead and take our chain and drape it over our tire. We want to be sure that it's even on both sides.
An easy way to check that is to grab the cable here in the front, feel around to the back, and make sure it's about the same. Then we can finish bringing in a chain around the tire and we're going to hook up the back first. Here on the backside of the tire what we want to do is take our stoppers here and our eyelet here and connect them together, but we don't want to connect too many together because then we won't be able to connect the front side evenly. Let's go ahead and start off with 3, we can always change it later. Here on the front we're going to do the exact same thing only this time we've got a lever that's going to help us tighten it and lock it in position. We'll just feed it through. We'll try to connect as many as we can.
Once we've got it where we want it we can fold it back and connect it here. It actually looks like we can get one more in there. Fold it over. We can use our keeper here just to hold it in position. That's just going to keep it from flapping around while we're on the road. Once you get one side done go ahead and repeat the same process for the other side.
When you get both sides done the manufacturer does recommend using a rubber adjuster. What this is going to do, it's just going to help keep that cable nice and snug around your tire while you're on the road. You can pick up 2 at part number TCNA2. To install, that's very easy. Be sure the hook is facing away from the tire. Then we connect the top and we'll go across and then work our way around. You can see how it's already starting to snug up that cable. That's what we want. It is a good idea to drive a short distance, stop, get out, check to see if you need to make any adjustments. That's going to complete our test fit on the Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains with the ladder pattern and steel rollers. Part number TC2019 on our 2016 Toyota RAV4.
