Any visit to the Shanghai area is incomplete without a visit to a water town. On our last trip to Shanghai, we chose to visit Tongli, an ancient town about 50 miles away. Tongli has 55 bridges and so many canals, it's known as "the Oriental Venice." This historic town is very peaceful, a welcome relief from the hustle and bustle of Shanghai. After visiting a garden and just wandering around, we took a very relaxing cruise through the network of canals.
