Yes, Hong Kong is tiny, but here are still very remote places that will take you several hours to get there. These two islands are the perfect example. First taking the West Rail line to get to Ma Liu Shui pier, and then another 1.5 hours ferry ride to finally touch down. The first destination is Ap Chau (Duck Island), which got this name because of its shape. It took me a moment to switch on my imagination and figure it out, but once you see it you cannot unsee it. It's the smallest inhabited island in Hong Kong with a population of 4 people. Walking around takes around 30 minutes, but most of the visitors go straight to the duck's head, which is clearly the most popular picture spot. Kat O, on the other hand, is comparably a much bigger island and we simply didn't have enough time for a proper exploration. There is a small, old-school restaurant here (Yik Man) that serves awesome cuttlefish balls (I recommend the Sichuan variation).
