First off a warm welcome back to The DSP Project in 2011 !

I wanted to kick off with something interesting so I went to see Pro Tools master and sound engineer Mike Hillier. Not only is he very sharp technically having worked at the renowned Metropolis Studios, but has tried a vast amount of gear doing reviews for MusicTech magazine. In fact if you have picked up an issue of MusicTech in the last 7 years there is a good chance you have already read Mike's work. I caught up with him to ask some questions about the aforementioned roles and being a freelance mix engineer.
