Queen Sugar Season 8 Canceled by OWN. After six years on television, seven seasons and 88 episodes, the OWN hit drama show Queen Sugar came to an end with the final episode of Season 7 on November 29. It’s official: there will be no Season 8 for Queen Sugar. Since the premiere, the show has been LOVED by viewers and critics: it has a high 7.8 score on IMDb and has banked 19 award wins and 62 nominations! Creator and executive producer, 50-year old Ava DuVernay came back to direct the finale episode. “It’s a radical act that it lasted this long, and it’s a testament to every single pair of hands that touched it and I am so proud of that,” said DuVernay in a recent interview. When the show started six years ago, most members of the Bordelon family were a mess, and it was great to see them doing so much better in the end, expect maybe for Charley. There was love in the air for Darla, Ralph Angel, Hollywood and Violet. Hollywood became a member of Saint Joseph’s School Board. And yes, having the Bordelons lose their family land would make a very realistic ending, but we are so happy the creators went with a HAPPY one instead. By the way, if you are not ready to say good-bye to your favorite cast members just yet, we have a great video about the Queen Sugar actors’ REAL-life partners and personal lives: we will link it here and in the comments below. Please, share with us in the comments what you thought of the show’s finale episode.
