Back in the summer of 1983, I bought the debut album by Tears For Fears entitled "The Hurting". As some of you may have read, this was the first time I bought an album and all the associated 7" and 12" singles as well. I was still 12 at the time. Much to my older brothers amusement, he tried to mock me repeatedly for buying it and liking it. But, little did he know that my musical tastes also spread to Depeche Mode, John Foxx, David Bowie and many others, as well as pop music of the time. So, revisiting "The Hurting" recently reminded me of him and his attempts to mock, despite the fact he was into Supertramp and Phil Collins. So, as I dislike my brother greatly and have refused any contact with him for well over a decade, there is a Tears For Fears track incorporated, just in case the sad asshole follows me on here and if he does, enjoy it. Just for once. So, welcome to Futuretro -- 80's Classics Re-Imagined, recorded by me live on the 10th of October 2021, at home. This is also subtitled "don't let the intro fool ya" and as a nod to the last two artists featured at the end of the set, "if ya know, ya know". And yes, I do have all these tracks in my collection, regardless of whether you like it or not. Some songs are just simply classics and will always be that way.
There is no set list for this mix, just suffice to say it is some 80's classics from Duran Duran, Yazoo and INXS etc, with some other 80's tracks thrown in for the mix. Some are my personal favourites and guilty pleasures, all with some meaning to me, memories of school days and my late teens.
Futuretro is a 90 minute set, so let yourself go and be taken on a journey. This is Volume 3, following on from Volume 1 and 2 and ss there were many more tracks ready to play, Volume 4 should not be too far away in the future.
