I have often said Islay Single Malts are my favourite types of whiskey. After trying a variety of Ardbeg and Laphroaig, Caol Ila, Bruichladdich Classic Laddie, I think it's time I try Kilchoman. This is more along the natural side of things as it is in uncoloured, non chill filtered, 46% and it also has not a very wide array of tasting. It delivers it straight which can be a plus or a minus whichever way you wish to look at it.
Pros - not expensive considering other islay single malt prices, very confident in what it wants you to experience and that is under-rated, different, organic a rich experience, smells clear-hearted and tastes very much so
Cons - a little one dimensional when compared to Laphroaig, Wee Beastie and even Caol Ila which are available for more money but do more. Won't mix well with ice/water and has to be consumed neat.
Price Rs 3500
Colour - Blue/White
Richness - good
Overall, happy to try, may grow on me. Lets see.
