Demarre McGill, principal flutist of the Seattle Symphony, hosts a program of video highlights from master classes for wind players, including two alumni of Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America. Flutist Karl-Heinz Schütz and clarinetist Daniel Ottensamer from the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra respectively share musical insights about selections from Brahms’s Symphony No. 4 and the 1919 version of Stravinsky’s The Firebird Suite. Bassoonist Simon Van Holen from the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra also coaches a young musician through a passage from Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4.
