Great Barrier Reef Research Program Director Dr Britta Schaffelke receives the medal in recognition of her impact to the Australian and international reef science community, mentorship & as a leader for gender equity at AIMS & beyond.
During her time at AIMS Britta has held a variety of positions spanning marine ecological research, environmental management and knowledge exchange.
The medal was announced at the Australian Institute of Marine Science symposium in Townsville, as part of our 50th anniversary celebration.
The AIMS medal recognises the outstanding, sustained, and enduring commitment of a staff member to excellence, and the exemplification of AIMS values.
