Tory Lanez has been sentenced to 10 years behind bars for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot after a party at Kylie Jenner's Los Angeles home in 2020. The decision was announced Tuesday following a two-day hearing during which attorneys for both sides presented arguments for their recommended sentence, according to NBC News. Prosecutors were reportedly seeking 13 years.
Ed Welbourn, an attorney for Lanez, told NBC News of his client's reaction to his sentence, "He is obviously disappointed. His biggest concern was how a sentence like that was going affect his family, specifically his fiancee and his son. And he's obviously very concerned about them and their well-being as he has been throughout. But at the same time, you know, he's a very positive person. He's going to keep his head up, and we're just going to continue moving forward."
Welbourn added, "We will be filing a notice of appeal, and that will be the next step. We've got to file the notice within 60 days and then the appeal will be down the line at some point."
