The Floating Lantern Festival consists of 1000s of floating lanterns in the evening symbolizing the spirits of the dead which slowly float to the sea. It is truly a very touching and also beautiful Japanese tradition as participants decorate their lanterns with hand written messages, then send them off as they make a wish.
