Some doctors find it easier to blame every symptom on MS or aging… Instead of taking the time to figure out what might ACTUALLY be causing it 🤦🏼♀️.
Did you know that anxiety & depression can be CAUSED directly by Multiple Sclerosis 🧡? Or it can be caused from MS symptoms, meaning one or several of your MS symptoms (like weakness, cog fog, fatigue, and incontinence) cause you to be more anxious.
And there’s also TONS of other valid causes for anxiety/depression UNRELATED to a diagnosis or aging 👵🏻.
It’s important to determine the cause so that you can get the best management!
If the cause is directly from MS… it usually requires medication.
If the cause is secondary to an MS symptom, it requires management of that symptom (by working with a specialist in that area: 👩🏼⚕️ physical therapist, occupational therapist, urologist, etc.)
Accessibility to those specialists can often be a barrier ((that’s why 95% of my work is virtual 🧡)) but the first step is discussing it & determining a probable cause — not just brushing it under the rug.
If you’re feeling anxious, depressed, or overwhelmed — you’re not alone. You’ve got this 👊🏻. Don’t stop advocating your yourself!
Comment below if this resonates with you ❤️.
P.S.
There are some REALLY great doctors out there ❤️, too! If you don’t feel heard, find a doctor who does listen!
