The Porsche 908 fits into the long line of models which, starting with the 550 Spyder, allowed the German marque to reach the peak with the famous 917. In 1968, under Ferdinand Piech, the 908 replaced the 907. This model had followed the 2-litre 906, featuring a new tubular chassis, and a streamlined body tested in a wind-tunnel. The 908 was the first competition Porsche with an 8-cylinder 3-litre engine, producing 350 bhp.
