At least 10 people were killed during protests in Venezuela Sunday, as protesters demonstrated in response to Sunday’s election of a new legislative body, the National Constituent Assembly.
The body will replace the current opposition-controlled National Assembly, and will be able to rewrite the country’s constitution.
Venezuela’s Electoral Council announced more than 8 million people — 41.35 percent of eligible voters — voted in the election, but that figure has been disputed by critics.
