You’d think a strangler fig would be no match for a massive baobab tree. But you’d be wrong. Strangler figs are not intimidated by the size or age of their victims, as this example from Malawi shows. This famous baobab, once visited by David Livingstone, stands on the shores of Lake Malombe, on the edge of the stunning Liwonde National Park. But the baobab is being slowly but surely overwhelmed by a strangler fig and one day there will be no baobab left at all. Nature can be cruel sometimes!
