샌드 아트부터 피카추까지... 색다른 모습으로 콘월에 모인 G7 시위대
This year's G7 summit, like those of the past, has also drawn protests by different groups of activists,... their messages delivered in unique ways.
Some drew massive pictures in the sand on the beach, others paddled out into the bay, and there were also some who dressed up as a much-loved cartoon character.
Their messages relate to climate change and vaccine equity.
Kim Sungmin shares some of the highlights.
A huge portrait of the G7 leaders appeared in the sand in a bay near Newquay, Cornwall.
It was drawn by an activist group called Avaaz,... welcoming the leaders while calling on them to take action on vaccine inequality.
"We are here today to urge the G7 leaders to share the vaccine recipes with the world and waive the patents so more countries can produce the vaccines they need for their citizens."
This man was one of thousands of protestors who took to the sea,... the beaches and the streets of Cornwall during the summit... to make their voices heard by the G7 leaders.
At Gyllyngvase beach in Falmouth,... some 5-hundred protesters paddled out into the bay to declare a (quote) "ocean and climate emergency."
"We need to say to the world leaders, to Boris Johnson: put ocean recovery at the heart of climate and biodiversity action."
A huge blow-up shark was floating on the water with the message: "Eat people not plastic."
And just a few miles away from the beach,... campaigners dressed up as medieval penitents to march on the summit's media center.
They are from the environmental group Extinction Rebellion, and they publicly "repented" for (quote) "funding climate hell."
"They're dressed in sackcloth and ashes, right? So they're dressed to show that there will be nothing left if we carry on investing in the destruction of the planet. There will be nothing left."
And these giant Pikachus also had an environmental message,... specifically for Japan.
"Our message to Japan is that if it continues to burn coal it will be an international pariah, it will make the future more dangerous for its citizens. It's going to make a future more dangerous for the world. Japan has a massive opportunity at the G7 to step up, stop burning coal and lead the world to a better future."
During this year's three-day summit,... around 40 groups have contacted the Devon and Cornwall Police to confirm their intention to protest at the event.
It was expected to be a challenge to police the protests, requiring thousands of officers,... but in the end, the protests across the region were peaceful.
The Devon and Cornwall Police tweeted their thanks for the demonstrators' cooperation.
