This is a quick video of the Kenwood TH-D74a radio listening to D-Star. I know allot of people like myself like to see a radio like this in action before making a purchase I have found that this radio is quite popular with many people on D-star and with good reason as it has excellent audio quality on both transmit (TX) and Receive (RX). And with its Extra Low transmit capability of 0.05 watts it is excellent for using it with a HotSpot and with both APRS and GPS turned off and the backlight set to medium the battery will last quite along time! I also really like that this Kenwood can receive HF and with a small magnetic loop receive antenna that I have that fits on top of this radio it gets really good reception for such a compact radio on 20, 40 and 80m which I will show in upcoming videos.
