Stars of Hong Kong cinema descended on Cannes on Saturday night to celebrate their film industry's 100th anniversary.
Actress Michelle Yeoh - who has made the leap to Western cinema - said it was a good opportunity to catch up with friends.
" I just landed from Buenos Aires so I am a little in the air and you know when you are in Cannes you will continue to walk on air, so it is fantastic and we are here for the 100th celebration of Hong Kong China night so I am very excited to be here with all my friends "
Renowned film director Johnnie To used the opportunity to talk about his new movie 'Vengance' which is showing in the festival's main competition.
'Vengance' stars Johnny Hallyday as a father who goes to Hong Kong to avenge, whose family was murdered.
"China Night: a Celebration of 100 Years of Hong Kong Cinema" was organised by the Hong Kong Development Council and the China Film Promotion International.
