These emotions are common with post-stroke depression, which affects more than a third of stroke survivors. Depression and anxiety disorder are the common health problems occurring after stroke. It contribute to the burden of deaths, disability, and decreased quality of life associated with stroke. Most patients who suffer depression after a stroke do not receive treatment for it. Depression occurring early after a stroke is an indicator for further risk of recurrent cerebrovascular events in ischemic stroke survivors.
