Essaouira is a small port city on the Atlantic Ocean. It is a unique city in Morocco; due to its fun and hip energy which you can’t find in other cities in Morocco.
Essaouira is an excellent destination for surfers and some of the biggest musicians and artists in the world. Gnaoua World Music Festival is held annually in Essaouira. So, if you happen to be in Essaouira during that time, it is a blast.
The city walls and the old Medina was used in the HBO TV series Game of Thrones to film most of the scenes of Astapor. Fans of Game of thrones will recognize the location where Daenerys Targaryen was buying the unsullied.
Watching the sunset from the city walls is something to enjoy in Essaouira. It is the best way to hit the reset button and switch to night mode. At night, Essaouira wears a whole new outfit and you better be ready for it.
