TOHO Animation, in collaboration with studio P.A.Works, has finally unveiled the debut trailer for the anime adaptation of the game that offers a detailed tutorial on rice farming. The trailer showcases the story of a Harvest Goddess named Princess Sakuna, who is punished by other deities for destroying a rice warehouse in the border region between Lofty Realm, where the gods reside, and the human world after a human intruder enters the divine realm.
In the nearly two-minute trailer, Sakuna and her human companions struggle to survive on a remote island by farming rice and defending against monsters that inhabit the area. The trailer opens with the theme song "Hare!" by Ikimonogakari (known for Naruto: Shippuden, The Seven Deadly Sins) and closes with "ORIGAMI" by Little Glee Monster (known for My Hero Academia Season 2, The Case Study of Vanitas Part 2). The Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin anime is set to premiere on July 6th at 11 PM on TV Tokyo.
With a storyline full of comedy and an emotional roller coaster depicting Sakuna's struggles to survive as a farmer alongside her human friends, are you interested in watching this anime adaptation? Although Sakuna was developed by Edelweiss, it was published with the help of Marvelous and XSEED Games. Could this mean that other series like STORY OF SEASONS or even Rune Factory might also be adapted into anime in the future?
