2-6. March 2022. For my third drive into Moldova, I decided during this Russian invasion of Ukraine to focus on Soviet buildings, border signs, mosaics, and WWII monuments; and alcohol. A week into it, and I say so far so good. I'm particularly pleased with the bubble-shaped Communist listening post we found near Mircești in Ungheni District, and Object 1180, an anti-nuclear bunker that was the largest secret Soviet site. Lastly, it was a bit interesting to look across the borders to Ukraine (from Soroca), Romania (from the Nature Reserve "Pădurea Domnească" / "Princely Forest" where European Bison roam), and the break-away state of Transnistria (from Rezina).
