Pretransplant evaluation in the potential receptor
Preoperative evaluation of kidney transplant (KTx) patients is essential in decreasing preventable complications. A meticulous prevention of problems both in the receptor and in living donor kidney transplant (LDKTx) improves the long-term graft and patient survival.
Before the transplant, urological problems, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes complications, oncological problems, and obesity need to be prevented or resolved, and body mass index (BMI) should be taken into consideration.
Along with the collaboration with other specialists in situations as vascular comorbidity, pre-transplant evaluation is not only interdisciplinary but a critical part of the KTx process.
