Sorry that it took so long, but after I conducted the blindtest about Digital Synths vs Analog Synths a bit more than a week ago, here are finally the results of the Study!
I probably put a lot more work into all this than I should have, but at least you also have a very fancy paper now. Well at least I hope you find it fancy, definitely let me know if you have anything to complain about the paper and I'll try to update it as quickly as possible.
I'm very interested in hearing what you think about the topic. Do you think analog synths sound different than digital ones? As in analog synths have something that cant be replicated digitally? Or do you think digital synths could theoretically or even practically sound exactly like analog ones?
I definitely advise against letting the results of this study influence your purchase decisions about analog or digital synths. Reasons for deciding on a synth go well beyond sound and even if there is a difference in sound, you’d have to decide yourself which one you like the most. You should make music the way you have the most fun and are happiest with the result!
Behind the link below you can find the Jupyter Notebook project, Mathematica project, raw csv file of the data and the Paper.
