A project scope statement is possibly the most powerful and important document you have about your project. In this video, we’ll explain what a scope of work is and why you should take time to create one for every project you take on.
A scope statement defines why you’re doing the project, any deliverables and their features, stakeholders involved, project objectives, metrics for success, and what the project won’t include. It might also include budget allotments and signatures for approval if contracts are involved.
In other words, a scope of work covers everything about your project. That can sound intimidating if you already feel like you’re in over your head when it comes to project management. But your scope document will help keep your head above water as you navigate through your project.
Watch this video for examples of the details you’ll want to consider—and the importance of each one—when writing a scope statement for your next project.
