Is there a difference between expensive Pultec eq plugins, the cheap ones and the free ones? Let's find it out in this comparison between Universal Audio Pultec EQP-1A, Analog Obsession Rare, Bettermaker EQ232D, IgniteAmps PTEq-X, SPL PassEq, Lindell PEX-500 and the Logic Vintage Tube EQ.
To make this comparison as loyal and useful as possible, I have matched almost completely the eq curves of each of these plugins (except for the Logic Vintage Tube EQ) to the eq curves of the Universal Audio Pultec EQP-1A. In this way, we don't get fooled by differences in calibrations and in values of the parameters, because each plugins will have their own. Instead, the difference you hear is the actual difference in color and harmonics of the plugins.

ABOUT ME
I am Mirko Russo, a musician and producer. I have been committing myself to music since I was 11: that’s when I began playing guitar. In the following years I have collected experience with bands and live gigs in Apulia, Southern Italy. In parallel with this, I started recording my own instrumental songs and releasing some albums throughout the years. So I decided to attend some courses about sound engineering, mix, mastering and the software Logic Pro X.
