Gov. Dan McKee took a "hard hat" tour of the Amazon fulfillment center in Johnston on Tuesday, and the company invited NBC 10 News to go along.
Amazon says about 850,000 packages are supposed to leave the facility a day.
It’s set to open later this year, and it will be one of the retail giant's Northeast hubs.
"This is incredibly impressive to see," McKee said.
People and robots are working side by side preparing to start packaging.
"Most of the work is done in the building. We are projected to launch in time for the holiday season this year," said Amazon spokesman Steve Kelly.
