Greece: Kyriakos Mitsotakis wins a second four-year term as prime minister with just over 40.5% of the vote for the conservative New Democracy Party. Mitsotakis’s main rival, the left-wing Syriza Party, was crushed, struggling to reach 18%.
Sudan: The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) said it seized the main base of a heavily armed southern Khartoum police unit on Sunday. RSF says it has taken full control of the large base belonging to the Central Reserve Police, capturing 160 pickup trucks, 75 armored personnel carriers, and 27 tanks.
Russia: President Vladimir Putin released a video on Monday addressing participants during a forum of young engineers, but no mention of the armed mutiny that took place over the weekend.
Myanmar: Authorities destroyed more than $446 million worth of seized illegal drugs to mark the annual international anti-drug trafficking day on Monday. The drug burn occurred after U.N. experts warned police of increases in the production of opium, heroin and methamphetamine.
Serbia: A court ordered the release of the three Kosovan policemen on Monday after a weeklong detainment. Kosovo says Serbs kidnapped the officers inside its territory. It demanded their release, as did the European Union and the United States.
