Here is a lovely rendition of John Philip Sousa's "Manhattan Beach March" as played on one of our 1905 Mira 18 1/2 inch Concert Grand Console music boxes. Sousa composed this rousing march to commemorate the Manhattan Beach resort in Brooklyn, NY in 1893. The tune has been a favorite of mine on Edison phonograph cylinder and early Victor recordings for many years in my collection and I was pleased to find it on the 18 1/2 inch Mira disc that you are listening to here. I have yet to hear a more spirited and refined arrangement on music box disc of this tune than this one. Thanks for stopping in for a visit and I hope that you enjoy the video.
