The third leg of four in a series of virtual field trips to study the geology of Flamborough Head, east Yorkshire. In Selwick’s Bay, below the lighthouse, the boundary between the Burnham and Flamborough Chalk formations is recognised but the main focus is on the intense deformation of the strata. Folds, thrusts and listric faults have all been recognised in this bay. From the cliff tops between the lighthouse and the easternmost point of Flamborough Head there are good views of collapsed blowholes, Pleistocene till and gravel deposits and text book geomorphological features associated with marine erosion.
