Applied Sport Psychology- How to Improve Athletic Performances through the use of effective Goal-Setting based on Locke and Latham' well-developed goal-setting theory
When working with a team or individual athletes, it is important to keep it simple using the S.M.A.R.T guidelines of goal-setting
Recently, the acronym SMART has been modified to add ER on the end (Wade 2009) also linked to athletic performance enhancement
“E” stands for: goals should be exciting and enjoyable
“R”: goals should be rewarding
... So be SMARTER!
