This is a campaign video, shared by the European Coaster Club to spread the word that the UK amusement park industry desperately needs the Government to confirm it can reopen on 4 July. #SaveTheFun
Theme parks across Europe are already reopening with social distancing arrangements in place, but in the UK there has been no news on what the Government plan to do. UK parks are already investing heavily to introduce socially distanced queuing, and to provide a safe environment for visitors, but they need the Government to confirm they can plan to open on 4 July.
Staff will need to be trained, roller coaster operations will need to be COVID-19 compliant, etc, but this preparation cannot happen overnight. Some theme parks are already saying that they may never reopen if they don't get the go ahead for 4 July.
Already the UK's oldest park, Wicksteed Park, has gone into administration as a result of the lockdown. The UK may lose many household names...up to 2.6 million jobs are potentially at risk.
Please SHARE the video, LOBBY your MP, and let's get the UK Government to commit to a 4 July reopening date so that amusement parks can plan with some degree of certainty. Some of the UKs' iconic rides and theme parks could be lost for good - they need UK Government action, and right now!
