Local people and non-natives talk about the neighbourhood the live in, with the reasons you should come to get to know it and stay here for yourself.
Born is a the most elegant of Barcelona's old-city neighbourhoods and is situated close to the beach. Strictly speaking, Born isn't the entire area, but is one of three areas – Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera, and Born. The points of interest include Santa Maria del Mar church, Born Cultural Centre, Palau de la Música, Ciutadella, Plaça Sant Agustí Vell, and the Picasso Museum.
Neighbours tell us the stories and curiosities you'll find amongst these narrow streets, as well as the bars, restaurants, and cultural offering of the area. All supported with a tailor-made map that will help you to get your bearings so you won't miss a thing that Born has to offer.
The Born Cultural Centre is where the remains of ruins left by the Spanish War of Succession, which annexed Catalonia to the Bourbon monarchy. After this war, the victors built a fortress to quash rebellions within the city and this eventually became what is now Ciutadella Park.
