With a tradition lasting centuries, half-timbered buildings are part of the vernacular architecture of several regions of France. Although more common in Northeast France because of abundance of wood and lack of adequate stone material for construction, interesting examples of timber framing also exist in the Southwest of France.
Two special examples included in the video:
1. Maison Fedel, built in 1450 in the town of Auch, displaying a well-preserved facade and brickwork, using the same traditional terracotta bricks of the region which have been used from the medieval and even Roman period.
2. Maison Henri IV, also in Auch, in which King Henry IV lived in 1578 with Catherine de Medici and Marguerite de Valois, before him and Marguerite became king and queen of all France.
