This A 3d 8-bit pixel animation of the loading screen of the Amstrad CPC game GRYZOR
The 3d animation is generated using app script I have that takes an original 320 x 200 pixel screenshot of the loading screen,
and then uses the pixel information to generate a MAXScript that creates a grid of 2x2x2 cubes with the RGB values of the original pixels, it also creates keyframe animations for the cubes. I then run the script in max, and render and edit the resulting frames.
I originally developed the script to convert ZX spectrum "ultimate Play the game" screens into Vector images. I was then using these Vector images as PNGs for Desktop Wallpaper
Gryzor was an ocean 8-bit port of the arcade game Contra by Konami made for the ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC and C64 (it was launched as Contra on the C64 in the US I think).
I may edit this a bit more, smooth the frame rates out a little. but as it is I rather like it.
