During a fire filled road trip of the west we made a quick decision to head for the Sawtooth National Forest in Idaho to escape the smoke. Enjoy a late summer sunrise hike on one of the easiest trails in the area and then head to Sunbeam and Bonneville Hot Springs for a relaxing soak.
THIS HIKE
The Fishhook Creek Trail is an easy trail being only 5 miles round trip with only 300 feet of elevation gain. The typical stopping point is at the creek just after you enter the wilderness area. The trail continues another mile or so into the wilderness area before petering out. Past the marsh there aren't any major views or sites so I would only recommend going further if you are planning to camp or travel off trail. The trailhead parking lot back at Redfish lake is very popular as several great trails depart from it. Be sure to go early!
