Did we find a Petoskey Stone in eastern Montana?!
Kate takes Rob from Michigan Rocks for one Montana rock hunt in search of big agates for him to take home. The weather is gray and rainy, but that doesn't keep them from having a GREAT time roaming the muddy hills in search of petrified wood, agates, jasper and more. Spoiler alert - Rob finds his first big agate! Kate even finds a coral that is very similar to the Petoskey Stones that are so familiar to Rob - a fossilized rugose coral, Hexagonaria percarinata. The stone is not smooth and shiny like the ones found in Michigan, but it's a great example of a coral from the Inland Sea.
