Thousands of refugees and forced migrants are returning now to Afghanistan from Iran. Since 2000 about 3 million (about 1 million legally) of Afghan citizens were displaced to Iran, where they seeking a shelter from violence, but at the same time served a mobilization base for IRGC-managed Shia militia group for local conflict, for example, “Liwa Fatemiyoun” for Syria war. Now, in view of degradation of governmental system in Iran, panic and chaos connected with coronavirus outbreak, and inspired by peace process in Afghanistan, refugees decided to return home. During first two weeks of March more than 20,000 of Afghan refugees passed through the Islam-Qala and Milak border crossings into the Afghan provinces of Herat and Nimroz from Iran.
