📍Dive site: Bonne Terre Mine
Bonne Terre, Missouri USA 🇺🇲
Originally built in 1864, Bonne Terre Mine is one of the world's largest man-made caverns, sprawling out underneath the small town in Missouri. Formed over a century ago, it's a pivotal site in mining history and used to be one of the main suppliers of Lead ore to the country. When the mine closed in 1962, water slowly flooded through the hundreds of feet of passageways, drowning the equipment, tunnels, elevators and more, seemingly freezing the Mine in time and opening a new world for thrill seekers to wander through.
With many sunken Mine tunnels, pathways and a max depth of over 375 feet this freezing indoor diving experience is definitely one to remember, there's a reason this dive is rated in the top 7 dives in the world
