Movers has broken this customers furniture in multiple locations, and cracked a piece of curved glass to make it even worst. Come along and see how i returned this piece of furniture into a stunning replica of its former self.
i love working with oak. it is one of the strongest domestic wood that is very easy to work with, and is not so expensive that it drives the cost of using it out of most customer's price range. It is commonly found in most homes, and was extensively used to make cabinets in the 80's, and 90's.
i found a local glass making shop, shout out to Davis Glass and Mirror, they outsourced the work to a custom shop in California. when it arrived, i installed the new glass.
Next it was on to replacing the broken parts of the furniture, which was an oak laminated pressboard. All of the replaced parts where made of exact matches, created from solid oak.
I lost most of the footage of me building the parts, but it was just a matter of taking the old parts off, and tracing them onto a piece of sold oak, which i then fabricated into its replacement, by hand. The customer also wanted to incorporate new parts that would strengthen, and support the weight of the upper portion of the cabinet.
All that was left was to stain the wood to match the existing piece, and apply a clear coat. The end result was stunning.
