This is a 2010 Subaru Impreza with 150k miles. It recently developed a misfire for cylinder one. This is how I diagnosed the problem in less than 10 minutes. Certainly something many of you can do at home. Cheers.

This being a four cylinder box engine, there are four possible misfire codes:
Subaru P0301 - Cylinder One Misfire
Subaru P0302 - Cylinder Two Misfire
Subaru P0303 - Cylinder Three Misfire
Subaru P0304 - Cylinder Four Misfire
Chances are the misfire is due to a bad or worn ignition coil, spark plug wires and/or spark plugs. If all look okay with spark, then check the fuel injector. If everything checks out, then a compression test or, even better, cylinder leak down test would isolate the problem.
