Watch a woman climb down a 50ft well to fetch water in a drought hit village in southern India. The woman - wearing the flowing traditional Indian dress - is seen doing the arduous task with ease, managing to climb down to bottom of the well using a thin rope in no time. However, the well she climbs into is virtually dry.
Locals say women have to stand in long queues in scorching heat for just few litres of water. The video was shot in the severely drought-hit village of Tarihal, Belgaum in Karnataka state. The catastrophic drought this year is so severe a lake and four other wells in the village have all dried up.
