The 2019 Subaru Ascent towing a fully loaded 2011 Heartland Edge (4,395 pounds). Full water tank, almost full grey water tank, camping gear, sleeping gear, pots and pans, dishes, TV and more.

In this vid, we are entering the Long Island Expressway, and speed up to 65mph briefly, then set ACC. After a little bit, when ACC is following the car in front of us that's going 60mph, we reset ACC to 60mph and keep it there.

The Ascent had no problems, even on the very hilly road at the beginning, or making highway speeds (max 55mph in Metro NY) on Route 454/347 OR on the Long Island Expressway.

We got nearly 15mpg on the highway, but, it's Long Island, so, there's sloping hills, but not mountain grades. We got 10ish mpg on "city" driving. I expect that on the types of long trips we usually go on with the travel trailer, we could average 13.5-14.5mpg since it is mostly highway (950 miles highway, 50-100 miles city-ish).

We used the Tekonsha P3 Prodigy Brake Controller (PN 90195) which was a simple "match the colors of the four wires" hookup to the Subaru supplied pigtail, and then literally reaching behind the kick panel on the driver's left side of the dash to grab the plug and plugging in the pigtail. A few quick adjustments and that was working smoothly.


Neither ACC nor the Ascent had problems maintaining either speed.
